SNAP

We monitor changes to SNAP eligibility made under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act so families know what to expect and how to stay covered. Each month, over 385,000 Mississippians count on SNAP to help put food on the table.

TANF

We document and highlight data on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) access and funding. In 2022, only about 7% of Mississippi TANF applications were approved, one of the lowest rates in the nation, leaving most eligible families without the cash assistance they need to stay afloat. We continue to closely monitor TANF approval rates as new data for 2024 becomes available.

Medicaid for Infants and Children

At the start of the unwinding process in 2023, more than 456,000 children were enrolled in Medicaid. Since then, child enrollment has dropped. As of mid-2025, overall Medicaid enrollment is about 667,000, including children but the state no longer publishes a reliable breakdown, so it’s unclear exactly how many children remain covered today.
